Iowa Test of Basic Skills
All students in grades 3 – 8 take the ITBS each year in the fall. This test is used to make instructional decisions both for individual students and on a school-wide level. The ITBS is a nationally normed test (the students are compared to students across the country) and accesses a broad range of academic skills.
In the 2009-2010 school year, 98% of the children scored in the average range or above in reading, and 94% scored in the average range or above in math.

Kansas Assessment Tests
Students in grades 3 – 8 take the Kansas Assessment tests in Reading and Math each year in the spring. This test is used to assess the school’s instructional program, make instructional decisions for individual students, and award accreditation to the school. In 2009, 95.4% of the children scored proficient and above in reading, and 92.9% scored proficient and above in math.
The Kansas Assessment tests the students over their knowledge of the curriculum set forth by the Kansas State Department of Education. Students are also assessed in Writing, Science and Social Studies; however these tests are not given every year or at every grade level.
